Charlotte Salomon: Life? or Theater?
September 6, 2008 -  January 4, 2009

The Oregon Jewish Museum and the German American Society presented an exhibition of museum quality reproductions by Charlotte Salomon on loan from the Goethe Institute in Los Angeles. Salomon, a German artist, fled to the South of France to escape the Nazis. She managed to hand over her portfolio of gouaches and drawings to a friend before she was caught and deported to Auschwitz where she perished. The original artworks are in the collection of the Joods Historisch Museum in Amsterdam.
